Sony's New PS3 Slim Playstation 3 for $299!

Tuesday, August 18, 2009

The big news heard round the world which emanated from GameCom is that the Sony PS3 Slim video game console will be a reality. It's scheduled to hit shelves next month and is already available for pre-orders at a lower price than the original.

The new Playstation 3 unit features a much smaller size (about 35% smaller) than the original PS3's. It includes the standard Wi-Fi, Blu-Ray player and a 120 gig hard drive storage unit, so you can watch DVD's, play CD's and store other media files.

Video gamers have already started buzzing about this hot new Sony PS3 slim game console, which will be competitively priced at just $299, which is $100 less than the original PS3's were. With that, Sony will be doing a price drop to reduce the price of all PS3's, and try to phase out the older units at $299. But who will want the old when the new is so much slicker cooler and smaller? It also is quieter and consumes less energy. There will be a new 3.0 firmware upgrade for it, also coming soon. Well worth the wait and the money...Only problem is it seems this ps3 slim is not backwards compatible. Oh well, we can't get everything in a video game system....yet!

Nintendo Wii recall for Battery Recharger

Thursday, August 13, 2009

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued a recent Wii recall. The recall is for the Psyclone Essentials and React Wii™ 4-Dock Battery Recharge Stations, which are distributed by Griffin International Cos., Inc. These charging stations were sold from January 2008 through July 2009 by Amazon.com, Target, Toys R Us and Best Buy for about $50.

Apparently the battery recharger stations have resulted in overheating problems which can pose a burn hazard. There's been at least six reports of overheating, two of which lead to minor hand burns. If you experience a burn, you should contact CPSC as soon as possible to report it.

To determine if your Wii battery recharging station is part of the Wii recall, check for the company name "Psyclone" or "React" on your particular item. These will have model numbers PSE6501 and RT530 respectively on the bottom of the unit.

If you determine you have a faulty recharger eligible for the recall, stop using the item and unplug it immediately. You can also do any of the following to find out how to return the product for a free replacement:

Call Griffin toll free at: 888-344-4702 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. CT Monday-Friday
